A brief update

Well, I made it to Fairbanks! In a half hour, I'll go to the local BMW mechanic and he'll swap out my mostly on-road tires for 50/50 on-road/off-road tires. Then it's north to Prudhoe Bay! It's been rainy in Alaska for the past few days, so the haul road that follows the Alaska pipeline will be muddy. Should be interesting.

My connection is slow right now, so I can't upload my pictures of the trip up the Alaskan Highway through BC and the Yukon. It was breathtaking. Absolutely stunning scenery. I'll try to get those online in a couple of days -- along with the Prudhoe Bay branch of my trip!

Hi Jake,

Thank you for the update. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures. Looking at the upcoming weather, you should have sunny skies for the next two days after today. I imagine it is going to be a glorious ride despite the bad roads.

Love you,

Dad

From Jake's Dad:

For those of you following Jake's adventure and wondering where he is and what has been going on, I hope Jake won't object if I give a brief update to let everybody know he is safe, doing well and working on an oil rig in Prudhoe Bay and living with a wonderful woman named Babushka (just kidding; Jake, Steve, Chris and Russ will understand the reference to the young lady.)

He made it to Prudhoe Bay and was back in Fairbanks on Sunday. Where he goes from here is anybody's guess, including Jake's as of yesterday (Sunday), which is as it should be on his grand adventure.

Stay tuned...
